Handmade Interview - Some Small Change

Here's a guest blogpost featuring a local markets stallholder.  You can read the full article at findhandmade.com.au
Some Small Change offers dreadlocks and hair on the one hand and handmade crochet rugs, tea cosies on the other.  The stall is busy and diverse and a mix match of colours, chat and customers picking up and checking out the products.  You can tell immediately that the dreadlocks are a big part of the vision here, with both Kellie and Linda having dreads, but also handmade crochet items.
The philosophy behind somesmallchange is - making products accessible and affordable so people from all walks of life are able to share something for themselves and walk away with something that is really beautiful but also inclusive.  Just as important is using reclaimed fabrics and items in upcycling and turning an object into something more beautiful.

“we believe in the products we are making the new products from – we are upcycling and repurposing, and turning them back into things of beauty.”

Linda has been doing her thing since she was seven – making small purses for other kids, and it has just grown bigger and bigger, until her partner suggested she set up as a stallholder.
It was natural progression to sell at the markets, as somesmallchange already had an existing customer base and a steady flow of orders.  But she did have some reservations initially.
